Audiobook File Conversion Kits

Kit tested on Vista and XP.

Tested with newest Itunes and WmP

Files included
Goldwave(gwave522.exe)
Audible Media player filter (AudibleMediaPlayerFilter.exe)
Lame mp3 encoder (lame_enc.dll)
Cool Mp3 Splitter
Noteburner virtual dvd burner
Required missing .dll

Converting .aa Audible files to .mp3
1. Download all Audible content you wish to convert, and then uninstall any Audible software on your computer.
2. Extract the files to folder.
3. Install Goldwave. You need to 'install' the mp3 encoder by copying lame_enc.dll to "C:\Program Files\GoldWave".
4. Install the audible media player filter. If your computer reports missing .dll files google the file name and add to c:\Windows\System. The common missing .dll has been included.
5. Open Goldwave and open a single file or batch convert. Batch convert takes one step, single file two. Open file[s] by navigating to file location and selecting ‘all files' in the drop down menu instead of the default 'supported file types'. Choose output conversion type from the drop down 'wave' default. Set the bit rate (128k:)) then convert.
6. Output .mp3 will be rather long so you can cut it to preferred size with the free mp3 splitter included. Install splitter and open. Follow instructions to load the file you want split, then chose how you would like it split. I chose 20 minute segments which I find easy to fast forward or rewind through. Suggestions welcome.
7. Reinstall audible software.
8. Repeat when feeling charitable.

Converting .m4b Apple files to .mp3

1. Install Noteburner virtual image burner.
2. Open Noteburner and set the output file type and bit rate from the settings menu.
3. Open iTunes and change the burning device in edit\preferences\advanced\burn menu to the Noteburner virtual drive.
4. Load audio book playlist using single files if they are longer than audio cd length. Click burn cd and wait while iTunes and Noteburner create your new .mp3 files.
5. Rename folders and file names to make them nice and readable :)
